'ainslee's portraits'

Ainslee is my big sister. She always has been. :)

And when I think of Ainslee, originally...when I was between 3-7, I see comfort. Someone who, when I got scared at night and couldn't sleep, would hold my hand until I could.

Thinking of Ainslee when I was 8-12, I see myself and the person she was helping me to become. (Indirectly of course). Getting teased for making good grades, using appropriate "big" words, and for being a pushover. And instead of having my hand held all night, I was reading John Grisham out loud and scratching her back.

When I think of Ainslee in my teenage years... I see doubt. Doubt and the voice of my Aunt Shellie telling us, "You know someday, you two are going to be best friends.".....

Then, Ains got married. She got married and she moved away. And then she had kids and became super woman. At least that's what I saw....

Recently, I've seen some fog. There have been a few tears.. the kind of tears that only best friends cry together. Late nights cleaning house, rocking kids to sleep, and mending a broken heart.

Now, in these photos, I can only see a whole lot of happy. Happy and hot. This is how I want to remember Ainslee for a long time to come.

I can't BELIEVE we haven't done it sooner, but here she is... in all her pre and post big sister glory.

My personal two favorites!...
